Tanglewood FINALTanglewood is a luxury neighborhood located just west of the inner-loop . The boundaries of Tanglewood are Briar drive to the north, Chimney Rock to the west, San Felipe to the South and South Post Oak Lane to the East. This prime Houston Real Estate is located near the Galleria  with it’s boutique shops, fine dining, and 20,000 square foot ice skating rink. Tanglewood is zoned to the Houston Independent School Disricit , however some residents send their children to nearby private schools.

Tanglewood has come a long way from its humble beginning as a treeless prairie located west of Downtown and south of Buffalo Bayou. Originally the homes became bigger as you went from San Felipe north to Buffalo Bayou. Grady elementary was a new school with a ditch in front and Mayor Hofinez owned all of the land between Yorktown, San Felipe, Westheimer, and Chimney Rock. This made for some great rabbit hunting as the area was heavily wooded at that time.

Today many of the original Ranch style homes are gone, replaced with big two story homes. The appeal of very large lots has allowed owners to build spectacular mansions. The area still retains its charm with Tanglewood Boulevard and its esplanade ending at Grady Middle School. In the last 10 years Tanglewood has seen large custom homes build by Andy Abercrombie, Sterling Homes, Silvestri Homes, Hyde Park Builders, Renaissance Builders, Black Diamond, Covington Builders, Old World Builders, Hersh Levitt, Yago Custom Homes, Jim Frankel, Cooper Welch, Parker House, Bardwell Building, and Park Lane Builders.

These new homes are priced from $1,453,000 to $4,999,000. They vary in square footage from 4,970 to 10,858 square feet. The original homes sell from $355,000 to $2,025,000 depending upon size and location. Buyers can expect to find high ceilings, great detail work, and hand crafted finishing in these Tanglewood mansions. Tanglewood is a place for those people who enjoy and appreciate upscale living.
