Rice Military

Rice Military is central to almost everything in Houston. This innerloop neighborhood is minutes from downtown and the Galleria / Uptown District!   It’s within walking distance of both Memorial Park and Nellie Keyes Park. Rice Military is located to the east of Durham, west of Westcott, South of Washington Avenue, and north of Memorial Drive. The area was named after the Rice family who owned the land and started Rice University, and the Military camp next to the land. The neighborhood schools are located in the Houston Independent School District.

Rice Military has some of Houston’s oldest and newest homes. There are still some of the original homes in the area, one of which was built in 1900. But most homes today are two to three story town homes and patio home built within the last 20 years.
