The Uptown Houston District consisting of 500 acres near the Galleria provides world class residential housing, office properties, and retail. Everything the discriminating connoisseur could desire is within this shopping district. Whether you were born to shop or just enjoy popular restaurants the entertainment options are endless.
The Uptown District is home to the Galleria, Houston’s premier shopping district. Fashionistas from all over Texas and Mexico join nearby local residents to find the latest offerings from Prada, Gucci, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, and Cartier. The Galleria is also a destination spot for tourists and residents alike who enjoy People watching. Over 100,000 Houstonians gather at Thanksgiving to sing Christmas carols and view the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting.
The Galleria’s Williams Water Wall has become a Houston landmark. Weddings take place on the week-end and young lovers sit on its benches at night. The Romanesque structure’s 64 foot tall semi-circular fountain is surrounded by statuesque oak trees. There is a certain magic at night as dramatic lighting highlights thousands of gallons of water flowing over the sides.
John Breeding President and CEO of the Uptown Houston District said “current projects include a recently announced 29-story high-rise at Blvd Place, a Whole Foods Market, and two office towers. We were almost entirely office and retail in 1986, and today we are a true urban center with office, residential, retail, hotels, and entertainment all rolled together in one package.”
Galleria real estate is located on both sides of Westheimer, west of loop 610, south of Buffalo Bayou, and north of Highway 59. The Tanglewood area with its Boulevard and mini-mansions is the most prestigious community. The homes are located on winding streets with large lots. Tanglewood is populated by car dealers, celebrities, and Houston’s business leaders. St. George Place located just west of the Galleria is within walking distance of the Galleria. St George Place features custom two story homes built by Houston’s best architects.
