Once populated by the Atakapa and Akakisa tribes, the heritage of modern Cypress dates back to the Germans who settled there in the 1840s. Until the 1980s the area was primarily rural, with few distinguishing landmarks or features. When the first master-planned communities were built in the 1980s, the Cypress Texas real estate market really began to take off. Today, it has grown into a major shopping destination and suburban community that residents are proud to call home.
