Jersey Village sits on land that was once a cattle farm owned by Clark W. Henry. When his health started to fail, he closed the farm and deeded the land to a residential developer. In February of 1954, the first residential community was developed, and the first family moved in during the fall of that same year.

Over the next few years the community added a golf course, school and park, officially incorporating on April 16, 1956. It operated as a general law city until 1986, when officials passed a home rule charter. Today, the 3.5-square mile community is home to about 7,620 people. This allows it to be a small town in the heart of the big city and Harris County, the fifth largest metro area in the country.

Jersey Village offers that small-town feel while still being only minutes from most of the major attractions in Houston.
